Humor and Heart with Cornelia Hanes

At the center of everything Cornelia Hanes does, is humor and heart. From fitness coaching, sketch comedy, to set or the stage, she advocates for women to feel strong within all facets of their life.

Cornelia Hanes, a Stockholm-born actor, comedian, and award-winning filmmaker is reshaping the narrative of women in cinema. Recently featured in Forbes as a filmmaker to watch, her comedic short 'Anaconda' has garnered numerous awards at film festivals and secured distribution on Omeleto, YouTube's premier platform for award-winning short films with over 3.6 million subscribers. Cornelia's work is a testament to her dedication to portraying women's real, vulnerable, and beautifully imperfect lives.

Her film "Anaconda" humorously explores life's imperfections through Annie, a single woman whose misadventures on the way to Burning Man reveal the unvarnished truths of personal dilemmas. This narrative not only entertains but also challenges societal expectations, emphasizing that perfection is an illusion and laughter is a powerful healer.

Cornelia began her artistic journey as an actor and continues to thrive in front of the camera while also embracing the creative nuances of filmmaking behind the scenes, driven by a desire to tell authentic stories and elevate diverse female voices. Her commitment is also evident in her all-female crew, reflecting her advocacy for gender equality in the film industry.

As an indie filmmaker, Cornelia has faced and overcome numerous challenges, particularly in budgeting and securing festival recognition, proving her resilience and innovative spirit. Her next projects include a new short and a pilot for a television series, promising more engaging and empowering stories.

Cornelia Hanes has an extensive career, beginning on stage in New York and touring with the award-winning play “Re-membering Antigone” across America and Canada, starring in indie films like "The Devil Sits on Both Shoulders" (Best Short Film at the Artemis Women in Action Film Festival), and appearing in ABC’s hit show "The Rookie."

Cornelia began her career with acclaimed theater productions and has seamlessly transitioned between film, TV, and stage. As a former NCAA elite swimmer and a certified health and fitness coach, Cornelia embodies the resilience and spirit of a true Swedish Viking, channeling her vigor into empowering women through both her artistic and personal endeavors.
